Still plugging along....

Hi Blog....

It's been a long time since I've written. Probably because I'm a bit down at the moment. I've gained weight...I'm having "girly" problems as well and I'm just so tired all the time!

Good news though, I'm on the very last stripe of my Dad's knitted afghan. I'm a third of the way through that, then all I have to do is weave in the ends and all done! I'm busting to start a new project!

I'm still making hexagons for the baby afghan, but I've spent most of my time on Dad's afghan to be sure it's finished. DH is a bit upset now that he's seen the afghan that I'm giving it away. It's one of the few he likes. Trouble is, DH thinks all afghans should be made to fit either a single, double, queen or king size bed. Any other sized afghan is just plain useless in his eyes! He doesn't get the concept of a rug to sit on, a lapghan to use while on the lounge (where a bed blanket is too big).

My next project is going to be a jumper for myself. Again it will be knitted. I know this is meant to be a Crochet Blog...but I'm learning how to knit much better, and want to make something wearable. I'll be using Cleckheaton Country Silk yarn. The picture above shows the jumper I'm going to make, and I'm using the exact same colour shown as well. It's a beautiful yarn and I can't wait to try it. The pattern says it's for a beginner knitter, which is what I am. I can knit and purl but can't follow a pattern. This will be my first attempt! Wish me luck blog!
Anyway, better go...work to do, again.....always....sigh....

Diet is going down the toilet!

Hi Blog,

Well, my diet efforts have officially not worked. I haven't budged one kilo, and it's hard to imagine why I haven't put on weight! Well, I have, but not more.

The only exercise I've been getting is my weekly Pilates class. I don't get a chance to walk, mainly because my business partner give's me filthy looks if I dare stop working during the day for even a moment.

When I get home, if I get home at a decent hour, there's just no time to get on my exercise bike. I'm tired, after dinner I'm so exhausted I just want to sit down for the hour before I have to go to bed, not exercise.

Then there's my knitting and crochet. It's the one thing in life that I'm enjoying at the moment, and I just don't get enough time to spend on it, and when I do, I get filthy looks, this time from DH because he too thinks I should be working, or cleaning the house (which is down right disgusting right now).

I tried to make my hexagons with a 4mm hook only to find with that hook the two colours work up to different sizes, where with the 3.5mm they didn't. I'm not sure why that is, or what to do because I can't make an afghan out of hexagons that aren't the same size!

I also want to start a Crochet-A-Long on Crochetville. They're making squares from the Jan Eaton Book "200 Crochet Blocks for Blankets, Throws, and Afghans: Crochet Squares to Mix and Match". I bought this book last year from www.amazon.com as it wasn't available in Australia at that time. To date I've not made anything from this book, but I'd love to start. I've got so much scrap yarn that I think I might do the odd block when I'm bored of my other WIP's (which include; Dad's knitted blanket, hexagon afghan, 2 x Cross Stitches and a doily).

I've also bought the yarn for a knitted jumper I want to make. It sounds stupid, but for all my 20 years knitting (I began when I was 10), I've only ever knitted one toddlers jumper. I'm terrified of having to follow a pattern. I don't know what the terms mean, and I really wish I had someone to show me.

Anyway, best get going...work to do and all! I'm getting the evil eye even now.
